Medical Professionals are one of the most overlooked people with respect to their own HEALTH and WELLness? Their jobs involve great human compassion, time, dedication. While physically demanding, you also have to have great mental, spiritual and emotional fortitude too! This is why so many medical professionals suffer from exhaustion, demotivation and eventually burnout.
Who is looking after you? Really caring? Colleagues are often a source of comfort and bonding. The feeling that “we are in this together” can make you feel less lonely, and sometimes “safe”. In my time as a clinical and corporate doctor I have met many doctors in different stages of their careers. What I learnt is that, for many, the medical/health space can be a lonely place. The many expectations that are placed on you, together with big responsibilities can leave one drained and sometimes demotivated.
Yet, some people get in right. They appear to be in control and energised despite many years in the health care field. How do they do it? To be honest, I am not so sure. What I have realised is that support, the right kind is a very important factor with creating some level of “peace” and togetherness. So, what are YOUR dreams? Who have you told? How do you define YOUR health, and wellness? Do you have the courage to SEE your own TRUTH? And LIVE into your dreams. To shine from within.
Reach out for support. Friends. Family. Support groups. Colleagues. Managers. Significant others. Counsellors. Coaches. Therapists. etc etc.. Don’t go it alone!
I am a medical doctor with clinical and corporate experience. I am passionate about integrating health and healing by deep, meaningful conversation first.
